LIFTGATE LATCH AND LOCK ACTUATOR INSPECTION

Liftgate Lock Actuator Inspection

Without power liftgate

1.  Disconnect the negative battery terminal. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [(E)].)

2.  Remove the liftgate latch and lock actuator. (See LIFTGATE LATCH AND LOCK ACTUATOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

3.  Press in the latch lever using a screwdriver and set it to the latched condition.

4.  Apply battery positive voltage and connect the ground to the liftgate latch lock actuator terminals as indicated in the table below and verify the operation condition.

•  If the operation cannot be verified as indicated in the table, replace the liftgate latch and lock actuator. (See LIFTGATE LATCH AND LOCK ACTUATOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

With power liftgate

1.  Disconnect the negative battery terminal. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [(E)].)

2.  Remove the liftgate latch and lock actuator. (See LIFTGATE LATCH AND LOCK ACTUATOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

Caution

•  Do not remove the screws shown in the figure because the liftgate latch and lock actuator may be damaged.

•  The gear could be pinched and become stuck causing motor burnout. For the operation inspection, verify the open direction and be careful that the marking positions do not exceed the motor gear.

3.  Mark the positions shown in the figure.

4.  Press in the latch lever using a screwdriver and set it to the latched condition.

5.  Apply battery positive voltage to terminal H of the liftgate latch lock actuator, connect the ground to terminal G, and verify that the open operation is performed.

•  If the operation cannot be verified as indicated in the table, replace the liftgate latch and lock actuator. (See LIFTGATE LATCH AND LOCK ACTUATOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

6.  Apply battery positive voltage to terminal G of the liftgate latch lock actuator, connect the ground to terminal H, and verify that the close operation is performed.

•  If the operation cannot be verified as indicated in the table, replace the liftgate latch and lock actuator. (See LIFTGATE LATCH AND LOCK ACTUATOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

7.  Operate the lever and set it to the unlatched condition.

Liftgate / Power Liftgate (PLG) Latch Switch Inspection

1.  Disconnect the negative battery terminal. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [(E)].)

2.  Remove the liftgate latch and lock actuator. (See LIFTGATE LATCH AND LOCK ACTUATOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

3.  Verify that the continuity is as indicated in the table.

•  If not as indicated in the table, replace the replace the liftgate latch and lock actuator. (See LIFTGATE LATCH AND LOCK ACTUATOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
