DTC U3003:16 [EMERGENCY CALL UNIT]

Without Mazda M Hybrid

Outline

System malfunction location	Emergency call unit power supply voltage low input
Detection condition	•  The emergency call unit power supply circuit voltage is lower than the standard.
Fail-safe	After this DTC is detected, collision is detected within 5 s •  Switches the power supply to the internal battery and continues the emergency call unit operation. After this DTC is detected, collision is not detected within 5 s •  Turns the emergency call unit power supply off.
Possible cause	•  DTCs are stored in the PCM. •  Battery malfunction •  Malfunction in generator •  Emergency call unit connector or terminal malfunction •  Short to ground or open circuit in emergency call unit power supply circuit •  Emergency call unit malfunction

Diagnostic procedure

Step	Inspection	Results	Action
1	VERIFY EMERGENCY CALL UNIT DTCs AGAIN •  Clear the DTC recorded in the memory. (See CLEARING DTC.) •  Perform the DTC inspection for the emergency call unit. (See DTC INSPECTION.) •  Is the same Pending DTC present?	Yes	Go to the next step.
		No	Go to repair completion verification 2.
2	INSPECT PCM FOR MALFUNCTION •  Perform the DTC inspection for the PCM. (See DTC INSPECTION.) •  Is a DTC displayed?	Yes	Repair the malfunctioning location according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting. (See DTC TABLE [PCM (SKYACTIV-D)].) (See DTC TABLE [PCM (SKYACTIV-G (E))].)
		No	Go to the next step.
3	INSPECT BATTERY FOR MALFUNCTION •  Inspect the applicable part. (See BATTERY INSPECTION [(E)].) •  Is the part normal?	Yes	Go to the next step.
		No	Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification. (See BATTERY RECHARGING [(E)].) (See BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-D 1.8].) (See BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G (WITHOUT CYLINDER DEACTIVATION (E))].) (See BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G (WITH CYLINDER DEACTIVATION (E))].)
4	INSPECT GENERATOR FOR MALFUNCTION •  Inspect the applicable part. (See GENERATOR INSPECTION [SKYACTIV-D 1.8].) (See GENERATOR INSPECTION [SKYACTIV-G (WITHOUT CYLINDER DEACTIVATION (E))].) (See GENERATOR INSPECTION [SKYACTIV-G 2.5 (WITH CYLINDER DEACTIVATION)].) •  Is the part normal?	Yes	Go to the next step.
		No	Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification. (See GENERATOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-D 1.8].) (See GENERATOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G (WITHOUT CYLINDER DEACTIVATION (E))].) (See GENERATOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G 2.5 (WITH CYLINDER DEACTIVATION)].)
5	INSPECT EMERGENCY CALL UNIT CONNECTOR FOR MALFUNCTION •  Inspect the applicable connector and terminal. (See CONNECTOR INSPECTION.) •  Are the connector and terminal normal?	Yes	Go to the next step.
		No	Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification.
6	INSPECT EMERGENCY CALL UNIT POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT FOR SHORT TO GROUND AND OPEN CIRCUIT •  Inspect the applicable circuit for a short to ground and open circuit. (See CIRCUIT INSPECTION.) •  Is the circuit normal?	Yes	Go to the next step.
		No	Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification.
Repair completion verification 1	VERIFY THAT VEHICLE IS REPAIRED •  Install/connect the part removed/disconnected during the troubleshooting procedure. •  Clear the DTC recorded in the memory. (See CLEARING DTC.) •  Perform the DTC inspection for the emergency call unit. (See DTC INSPECTION.) •  Is the same Pending DTC present?	Yes	Refer to the controller area network (CAN) malfunction diagnosis flow to inspect for a CAN communication error. (See CONTROLLER AREA NETWORK (CAN) MALFUNCTION DIAGNOSIS FLOW [(E)].) If the CAN communication is normal, perform the diagnosis from Step 1. •  If the malfunction recurs, replace the emergency call unit, then go to the next step. (See EMERGENCY CALL UNIT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
		No	Go to the next step.
Repair completion verification 2	VERIFY IF OTHER DTC IS DISPLAYED •  Perform the DTC inspection. (See DTC INSPECTION.) •  Are any other DTCs displayed?	Yes	Repair the malfunctioning location according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting.
		No	DTC troubleshooting completed.

With Mazda M Hybrid

		No	Go to the next step.
3	INSPECT BATTERY FOR MALFUNCTION •  Inspect the applicable part. (See BATTERY INSPECTION [(E)].) •  Is the part normal?	Yes	Go to the next step.
		No	Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification. (See BATTERY RECHARGING [(E)].)
