• Is a DTC related to body control module (BCM) communication error or internal malfunction displayed?

Repair the malfunctioning location according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting.

No
|
Go to the next step.

VERIFY EMERGENCY CALL UNIT REPLACEMENT RECORD
• Verify if the emergency call unit has been replaced before performing this troubleshooting procedure.
• Has the emergency call unit been replaced?

Yes
|
After implementing the required servicing according to procedure when replacing a module, perform the repair completion verification.
|
No
|
Go to the next step.

|
VERIFY IF MALFUNCTION IS CAUSED BY BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) CONFIGURATION ERROR
• Switch the ignition OFF and wait for 30 s or more.
• Switch the ignition ON (engine off or on) and wait for 30 s or more.
• Clear the DTC recorded in the memory.
(See CLEARING DTC.)
• Perform the DTC inspection for the emergency call unit.
(See DTC INSPECTION.)
• Is the same Pending DTC present?

Yes
|
Go to the next step.

No
|
Go to repair completion verification.

VERIFY BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) CONFIGURATION RELATED DTCs
• Clear the DTC recorded in the memory.
(See CLEARING DTC.)
• Perform the DTC inspection for the body control module (BCM).
(See DTC INSPECTION.)
• Is a configuration related DTC displayed?

Yes
|
Repair the malfunctioning location according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting.

No
|
Go to the next step.

INSPECT CAN COMMUNICATION LINE
• Perform an inspection in accordance with the multiplex communication system diagnostic procedure.
• Is the CAN communication line normal?

Yes
|
Go to the next step.

No
|
Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification.

RESET CONFIGURATION DATA FOR BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM)
• Using the M-MDS, perform the body control module (BCM) configuration.

• Clear the DTC recorded in the memory.
(See CLEARING DTC.)
• Perform the CMDTC self-test.
(See DTC INSPECTION.)
• Is a configuration related DTC displayed?

Yes

If a configuration related DTC is displayed on other modules simultaneously
• Replace the body control module (BCM) and perform the repair completion verification.
If a configuration related DTC is not displayed on other modules simultaneously
• Replace the emergency call unit and perform the repair completion verification.

• Perform the DTC inspection.
